Lochnia nessonia (Nessy)

Nessy belongs to the Free Pukas; these have all the characteristics that the members of the order Lepolagotia (Real Pukas) also have. Only in one point they differ from Real Pukas: they live without a human partner. Probably the Free Pukas are the phylogenetically older group than the Real Pukas.
The only surviving representative of this group belongs to the Water Free Pukas.

Nessy is perfectly adapted to water life and lives without a human partner. Again, it is not clear what this animal actually feeds. Here, it cannot be the attention and affection of a human partner. By the way, it is wrong that Nessies should occur only in ONE lake in Scotland. Even in Franconia, the author is familiar with some carp ponds, where representatives of the species L. nessonia occur. Sometimes you just have to look closely, because they can - despite their size - camouflage perfectly!
Apart from the quite considerable size of Nessy, there are the limbs that have been transformed into webbed feet, and the flattened tail folded on the back, which serves for underwater control, which attracts attention. The above-mentioned camouflage possibility is achieved by the fact that the Nessys - due to the aquatic life - have given up any hairiness and possess sepia-like chromophores in their skin, with which they can adapt to their environment like a chameleon.
